The Catholic Archdiocese of Kumasi is mourning the sudden passing of Rev. Fr. Dr. Anthony Kwaku Manu, a dedicated clergyman and Parish Priest of Holy Trinity Parish, Sepe Timpomu, Kumasi.
Fr. Manu passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at age 70. According to an official statement from the Archbishop’s Office, Fr. Manu was found unconscious in his room and rushed to Manhyia District Hospital, where he was declared dead upon arrival.
The Archbishop of Kumasi, Most Rev. Gabriel Justice Anokye, conveyed the sorrow felt across the archdiocese, stating, “It is with profound sorrow, pain, and a heavy heart that I regretfully announce to you the sudden passing of Rev. Fr. Dr. Anthony Kwaku Manu.” He encouraged the faithful to “pray for the peaceful repose of the soul of Fr. Anthony Kwaku Manu and also for strength and consolation for the bereaved family.”
In addition to his service in Kumasi Archdiocese, Fr. Manu served as a parish priest for the African Catholic English Community in Esslingen, Germany, where he was known for his commitment to various community activities and religious services, including leading Mass and other church events. His international ministry was marked by a dedication to promoting faith and community among African Catholics in the diaspora.
Born on February 24, 1954, Fr. Manu was ordained on July 29, 1989, and dedicated 35 years to serving the Catholic Archdiocese of Kumasi. His contributions to the Church spanned both local and international communities, highlighting his unwavering commitment to the ministry.
Archbishop Anokye, in his message to the priests, religious, and lay faithful, underscored Fr. Manu’s life of service, adding, “We continue to share the firm trust that the Lord Whom Rev. Fr. Dr. Anthony Kwaku Manu faithfully served will reward him with eternal life for his service to the Church and humanity.”
Details of the funeral arrangements will be shared in due course. Archbishop Anokye extended his heartfelt condolences to Fr. Manu’s family and the entire church community, encouraging them to find comfort in the promise of resurrection as they honor his legacy.
