The death has been reported of Msgr. William Techie, a long-serving priest of the Keta-Akatsi Diocese and a 2024 Papal Honouree. His passing was announced in the late afternoon of Saturday, November 16, 2024, marking the end of a remarkable life dedicated to serving both the Church and his community.
In recent years, Msgr. Techie had been actively involved with the Diocesan Development Office, where he contributed to the growth and development initiatives of the Diocese. He was widely admired for his commitment to pastoral work and dedication to uplifting the communities he served.
In June 2024, Msgr. Techie was one of three long-serving priests from the Keta-Akatsi Diocese who were conferred the title “Monsignor, Chaplain to His Holiness”. The honour was bestowed during a special Mass presided over by the former Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana.
Over the years, Msgr. Techie ministered in various parishes as a Parochial Vicar and Parish Priest, serving communities within the Diocese.
The Diocese of Keta-Akatsi has called for prayers for the repose of his soul and comfort for his family, friends, and the faithful who mourn his loss. Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
