The Accra Archdiocesan Priests’ Association (AAPA) has elected new executives to lead the organization for the next three years (2024-2027). The election, held during a recent meeting, saw Rev. Fr. Henry Ahorlu re-elected as President to continue serving the association. He will be supported by a team of dedicated priests who assume key roles in the executive body.
Fr. Ahorlu, Parish Priest of Prince of Peace Parish, Kwashieman, expressed gratitude for the renewed confidence in his leadership.
In an interview with Catholic Trends, he stated, “This renewal of mandate means I must elevate the concerns of my brother priests more forcefully and to impact our archdiocese with our support for the vision of our Archbishop.”
The president highlighted his priorities for the second term, including enhancing the welfare of diocesan priests and securing the association’s properties and investments. “My goal for this second term is to work on securing a good welfare package for diocesan priests and securing all our properties and locked-up investments,” he added.
The newly elected executive members are:
- President: Rev. Fr. Henry Ahorlu (Parish Priest, Prince of Peace Parish, Kwashieman)
- Vice President: Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Salifu (Parish Priest, St. Patrick Parish, Atomic)
- Secretary: Rev. Fr. Emmanuel-Mary Ofori Srem (Parochial Administrator, St. Agnes Rectorate)
- Assistant Secretary: Rev. Fr. Donatus Pallu (Parochial Administrator, St. Maurice Parish, La)
- Financial Secretary: Rev. Fr. Dodji Gadessodji (Parochial Administrator, St. Anthony Catholic Church, Fish Pond)
The Association expressed optimism about the new leadership’s capacity to strengthen priestly solidarity and advance its mission within the Archdiocese of Accra.
The executives have pledged to promote unity and support among the clergy while addressing key challenges in the archdiocese.
