The Accra Archdiocesan of Priests’ Association (AAPA) is prioritizing efforts to deepen its connection with the faithful within the Archdiocese. This is expected to help in addressing pressing concerns and promote collaboration for mutual growth.
In light of challenges that arise when priests pass on, including family dynamics, Fr. Henry Ahorlu, President of AAPA, underscored the association’s dedication to improving these relationships. Speaking to Catholic Trends, he noted:
“We are working on improving the Archdiocese’s relationship with our families. There have been issues, especially when a priest passes on, and we are actively working to smoothen that relationship. Plans are already far advanced to address these concerns.”
Additionally, Fr. Ahorlu reiterated the need for stronger engagement with parishioners to ensure mutual trust and understanding. He mentioned that the aim will be to build stronger bonds with the faithful across the Archdiocese, ensuring that their voices and concerns are integrated into our mission.
Fr. Ahorlu also highlighted several initiatives aimed at bolstering the welfare of members and enhancing the association’s operational efficiency.
These include the gazetting of all priests in the Archdiocese and securing proper documentation for AAPA-owned properties. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the health of members, saying,
“We are also very concerned about the health of our members. We pledge to carry out regular health checks for all priests to ensure their well-being.”
Fr. Ahorlu made a passionate appeal to the Catholic faithful, courting their support for ongoing projects, particularly the initiative to provide a vehicle for the mission works in the Donkorkrom Vicariate. He revealed,
“AAPA has contributed over GHC 25,000 towards this project, and I appeal to parishioners to come and help us. Like St. Paul, let’s extend help to Macedonia, as every Catholic supports this noble project.”
AAPA expressed its gratitude to the Archbishop of Accra and his auxiliaries for their continuous support. Fr. Ahorlu reaffirmed the association’s commitment to advancing the vision of the Archdiocese:
“We will continue to support the Archbishop’s vision for our Archdiocese, ensuring that we fulfill our mission to serve the faithful with dedication and love.”
These initiatives signify AAPA’s determination to create a stronger, healthier, and more united community, aligning its efforts with the spiritual and practical needs of the Archdiocese.
