The Catholic University of Ghana (CUG) has received a major boost in its transportation capabilities with the donation of a brand-new 29-seater Toyota Coaster bus from MIVA Austria, a relief organization of the Catholic Church.
The presentation of the bus, held at the university’s campus, was marked by a brief ceremony where Most Rev. Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi, President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference, blessed the vehicle. In his remarks, he expressed gratitude for the timely support, highlighting its potential to enhance the institution’s operations.
“This donation couldn’t have come at a better time. It will significantly improve the university’s transportation needs, especially in facilitating student activities, field trips, and administrative functions,” said Most Rev. Gyamfi.
The bus is expected to address the increasing demand for reliable transportation at CUG, supporting various academic and extracurricular activities. Its introduction is anticipated to ease logistical challenges faced by students and staff, particularly in organizing field visits, outreach programs, and community engagement initiatives that form a core part of the university’s mission.
Present at the ceremony were Mr. Emmanuel Kaba, the University Registrar, and Rev. Dr. Stephen Ebo Annan, the University Chaplain, who also emphasized the positive impact of the donation on the institution’s day-to-day operations.
MIVA Austria has a long-standing history of supporting institutions in need, particularly within the Catholic community. This donation underscores the organization’s commitment to education and community development, reinforcing the Catholic Church’s broader mission of fostering growth and progress.
The Catholic University of Ghana expressed profound gratitude to MIVA Austria for the generous gesture, affirming its commitment to using the bus to advance its objectives and better serve its students and staff.
