The Catholic Archdiocese of Cape Coast has announced the passing of Rev. Fr. Jude Osborn Eduafo-Ampah. The beloved priest died on the night of November 26, 2024, at the Our Lady of Grace Hospital, Breman Asikuma, following a short illness. He was 65 years old.
In a statement issued by the Office of the Vicar General, the Archdiocese shared the sad news with all priests, religious, and lay faithful. Very Rev. Fr. Bonaventure Annan, the Vicar General, expressed his condolences, stating, “Please pray for the peaceful repose of the soul of the late Rev. Fr. Jude Osborn Eduafo-Ampah and peace and comfort for his family.”
At the time of his passing, Fr. Eduafo-Ampah was the Parish Priest of Saints Mary and Joseph Parish, Nsusosooso, Agona Swedru. Details of his burial arrangements will be communicated later by the Archdiocese.
Born on June 10, 1959, in Kumasi, Ghana, to Kodwo Eduafo Oppah and Amma Anfoah, Rev. Fr. Eduafo-Ampah began his journey in service to God and humanity early in life. He pursued his theological studies at the University of Ghana, graduating in 1984, and was ordained a Catholic priest in 1986.
Fr. Eduafo-Ampah served in various capacities throughout his ministry. His initial assignment was as Assistant Pastor at St. Stephen Church, Dunkwa, Ghana, from 1986 to 1989. He subsequently served as a pastor in parishes across Ghana, including St. John’s Church, Saltpond, where he ministered from 1992 to 1997.
In 1997, Fr. Eduafo-Ampah took up international ministry as the Rector of All Saints Church in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and simultaneously served as Assistant Pastor at the Prisons Apostolate in Amsterdam. He was also a counselor at Africa House, Amsterdam, dedicating his time to offering spiritual and emotional support to African immigrants.
Returning to Ghana, he continued his ministry at Saints Mary and Joseph Parish, where he remained until his passing.
Rev. Fr. Jude Osborn Eduafo-Ampah was widely recognized for his selfless service and spiritual dedication. His exemplary contributions earned him recognition as a noteworthy priest by Marquis Who’s Who.
