Bishop of the Diocese of Goaso in Ghana, Most Rev. Peter Kwaku Atuahene has ordained three men to the Sacred Order of Deacons at St. Anthony of Padua Cathedral.
This significant event coincided with the Annual Diocesan Congress of the Catholic Women Association (CWA), making it a double celebration of faith and commitment on January 4th, 2025.
The ordination ceremony, which was attended by a large gathering of clergy, religious, lay faithful, and dignitaries, marked the culmination of years of preparation for the three candidates.
The newly ordained deacons—Rev. George Opoku Agyei Atta from St. Anthony of Padua Church, Yamfo; Rev. Sampson Badu from St. Michael Parish, Kukuom; and Rev. Louis Barnie Agyemang from St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Wioso—were formally called to serve in the Church, dedicating their lives to the ministry of service, charity, and the Word.
In his homily, Bishop Atuahene praised the candidates for their willingness to serve God and the Church, emphasizing the importance of humility and dedication in their new roles.
He urged the new deacons to follow Christ’s example of selflessness, reminding them to rely on God’s grace and to remain content with the simple life the Church offers.
The ordination ceremony, marked by profound liturgical rites including the Liturgy of the Word, the Presentation of the Candidates, and the Laying on of Hands, was graced by the heartfelt participation of the diocese’s well-rehearsed choir, which provided inspiring melodies throughout the Mass.
The newly ordained deacons were invested with the Diaconal Stole and Dalmatic, and each was presented with a Book of the Gospels, symbolizing their commitment to proclaiming the Word of God.
In addition to the religious ceremony, the event saw a strong presence from the Catholic Women Association, who not only organized the ordination but also received prayers and blessings for their vital role in the Church’s mission.
