The Conference of Bishops of Togo (CET) has issued several decrees announcing key appointments to enhance the operations of the National Catholic Episcopal Council for Social Communications (CENCCS) and Signis-Togo. The appointments, made during CET’s Ordinary Session held in Aneho from November 1 to 15, 2024, mark significant strides in advancing the Church’s communication mission in Togo.
Most Rev. Moïse Messan Touho, Bishop of Atakpamé and in charge of Social Communications at CET, appointed Mr. Christian Apedo Date Barrigah as the Secretary General of CENCCS. The five-year renewable term commenced on January 9, 2025. The decree noted, “This decision follows the statutes of the National Catholic Episcopal Council for Social Communications, which give the Bishops’ Conference the prerogative to appoint the Secretary-General.”
In another decree, Rev. Fr. Hubert Koffi Xolali Dadale was named Treasurer General of CENCCS for a similar renewable five-year mandate.
The CET also approved the designation of Rev. Fr. Matthieu Babouga Kalemao as President of Signis-Togo. According to the third decree, “The statutes of Signis-Togo grant the Bishop in charge of Social Communications the authority to approve the designation of the President.” Fr. Kalemao will serve a three-year renewable term, effective January 9, 2025.
Bishop Touho commended the appointees and expressed confidence in their abilities to strengthen Catholic communication structures in Togo, ensuring they meet the needs of the Church and society.
