Monsignor Maher Chammas, the Secretary of the Apostolic Nunciature in Ghana, has concluded his diplomatic mission in the country, marking the end of a deeply spiritual and fulfilling chapter.
During a farewell reception held in his honour at the Nunciature in Accra, Msgr. Chammas expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the Catholic community in Ghana and their support during his tenure. He will now continue his mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Reflecting on his time in Ghana, Msgr. Chammas described his experience as one of profound spiritual growth and connection, noting the lasting bonds he had formed with the community. He thanked Archbishop Henryk Mieczysław Jagodziński for the opportunity to serve and acknowledged the contributions of the current Nuncio, Archbishop Julien Kaboré, and others who helped him during his time in Ghana.
Archbishop Kaboré praised Msgr. Chammas for his commitment and hoped he would find a similar sense of family in the DRC. Messages of gratitude also came from the Catholic community, with Mr. Thomas Okyere, Consul General of Botswana in Ghana, highlighting Msgr. Chammas’s impactful homilies and pastoral care that deeply resonated with the faithful.
Bishop Anthony Narh Asare, Auxiliary Bishop of Accra also commended Msgr. Chammas for his excellent leadership and rapport with the bishops of Ghana.
