Nigeria’s Shendam Diocese reports abduction of priest in Abuja

The Diocese of Shendam, Nigeria has confirmed the abduction of one of its priests, Rev. Fr. Cornelius Manzak Damulak.

A statement issued by the Diocese indicates that Fr. Damulak, a student at Veritas University in Abuja, was taken from his residence in Zuma 2, located in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory in the early hours of Thursday, February 6, 2025.

The Diocese expressed sadness over the event, stating, “With sadness in our hearts, the Diocese of Shendam writes to inform the general public of the abduction of one of her priests, Rev. Fr. Cornelius Manzak Damulak, a student of Veritas University, Abuja.”

In a call to action, the Diocese is urging the faithful and well-wishers to unite in prayer for the priest’s safe return. “We invite all Christ’s Faithful and all people of goodwill to storm the heavens with prayer for his quick and safe release from the hands of his abductors.”

“We entrust our brother, Fr. Cornelius Manzak Damulak to the maternal intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary our Mother and all the saints to keep him strong and to return him back to us safely,” the statement added.
