The Catholic Diocese of Wa has been struck by news of the death of Rev. Fr. Peter Dakurah, the Parish Priest of St. Peter’s Parish in Lawra.
At the age of 70, Father Dakurah passed away unexpectedly on the afternoon of February 11, 2025, at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Hospital in Jirapa, where he had gone for medical treatment.
In an official statement issued by the Most Rev. Francis Bomansaan, the Catholic Bishop of Wa, the Diocese expressed deep sorrow over the loss, extending their condolences to the entire Dakurah family of Tizza, and to all the faithful of the parish and the broader community.
The Bishop called on all parishes, institutions, and religious communities within the Diocese to pray for the peaceful repose of Rev. Fr. Dakurah’s soul.
“With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved Father, who dedicated his life to the service of the Church and the community. The Lord whom Fr. Dakurah faithfully served will grant him eternal peace in His Kingdom,” said Bishop Bomansaan.
Rev. Fr. Dakurah had been a pillar of faith in the region, known for his devotion to the church and his pastoral care.
The February 11 statement further indicated that the funeral arrangements for Rev. Fr. Dakurah will be shared in due course.

The statement he made during our communication about my school was, “you will miss a lot from me but take care and be a good girl.
