Parish Priest of St. Mark Catholic Church, Oppong Valley in the Sekondi-Takoradi Diocese, Rev. Fr. Augustine Mensah, has made a donation of two wheelchairs, a fetal doppler, a baby scale, adult scale, a drip stand, toiletries, detergents, and other essential medical consumables to the Jubilee Catholic Children’s Hospital in Apowa on the occasion of his 10th priestly anniversary.
The Thursday, February 13 donation, according to him, is in gratitude to God for a decade in the priesthood since his ordination on 13th December 2014.
Rev. Fr. Francis Atta-Aidoo, the Diocesan Director of the Catholic Health Service Trust, commended Rev. Fr. Augustine Mensah for his generosity, emphasizing that Jubilee Catholic Children’s Hospital was privileged to be chosen among many healthcare facilities in the Catholic health network. He expressed confidence that the donated items would enhance the hospital’s operations and improve healthcare delivery.
Speaking at the event, Rev. Fr. Augustine Mensah shared that his motivation stemmed from the wise counsel of his grandfather, Most Rev. Peter Kwesi Sarpong, Emeritus Archbishop of Kumasi. He also expressed appreciation to his entourage for taking time off their schedules to support this charitable act.
In response, Rev. Fr. Francis Atta-Aidoo assured that the items would be put to good use and encouraged all Christians to emulate such acts of kindness.
The event concluded with a photo session with the hospital’s staff and management. Among those present were Rev. Fr. Andrew Dadzie, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Johnson, and lay representatives Proser Adelaquaye, John Abban Ansah, and Albert Adjei.
