The Kenyasi Deanery of the Goaso Diocese in Ghana has donated a 10,000-litre water tank to the Kenyasi Prisons. The gesture, which took place on March 26, involved local prison officials, Catholic clergy, and parishioners, highlighted the community’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of others.
The event began with DSP Bernice Kyei, who warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed the prison administration’s gratitude for the much-needed donation. During the Jubilee Prayer, Rev. Fr. Matthew Kumi, Dean of Kenyasi Deanery, connected the donation to Christ’s call in Matthew 25:36 to “visit those in prison,” underscoring the Church’s role in caring for the marginalized.
“This is more than just a donation; it is an act of faith in action,” Fr. Kumi said. “This is a moment to transform our belief into something tangible, reflecting Christ’s call to serve.”
CSP Elvis Ahadzi, Commander of the Kenyasi Prisons, accepted the water tank on behalf of the prison, expressing deep appreciation for the timely and essential support. He highlighted that donations like this are crucial to improving conditions at the facility and urged the Church and other organizations to continue supporting the prison’s needs.
The ceremony concluded with a tour of the prison, where representatives from the Deanery witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by the inmates and staff.
