Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, His Excellency Julian Kabore, has announced the appointment of Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Joseph Okine-Quartey as the new substantive Rector of St. Paul’s Seminary in Accra.
This appointment, made by the Dicastery for Evangelization, was shared during the “2025 Journey to Calvary” event held on April 12.
Fr. Dr. Okine-Quartey, who has been serving as the acting Rector of the Seminary, now takes on this prestigious role permanently, following a recommendation by the relevant authorities. The Nuncio’s announcement was met with cheers and applause from the gathered clergy, seminarians, and dignitaries present at the event.
In his address, His Excellency Julian Kabore read the decree from the Dicastery for Evangelization, stating:
“The Dicastery for Evangelization, and having accepted the recommendations of those duly concerned by virtue of the present decree of the Dicastery, elects, appoints and establishes the Rev. Joseph Okine-Quartey of the Diocese of Sekondi-Takoradi as Rector of the St. Paul’s Major Seminary Sowutuom. This present provision shall remain in force until the Lord provides otherwise.”
Fr. Okine-Quartey holds a Doctorate in Philosophy (PhD) from the Pontifical Urban University, Urbaniana, in Rome, Italy, a Licentiate in Philosophy (LPhil.), and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and the Study of Religions (BA) from the University of Ghana, Legon.
