The Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, has conferred Papal Honors on four distinguished members of the Catholic Diocese of Ho in recognition of their dedicated service to the Church and society.
The announcement was made by Most Rev. Emmanuel Kofi Fianu, SVD, Bishop of Ho and Vice President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference, during the Thanksgiving Mass marking his 10th Episcopal Ordination Anniversary on behalf of the Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, His Excellency Most Rev. Julien Kabore.
The honorees are Mr. Ernest Kwame Afla, Mr Bernard Wisdom Quarshie, Mr. Jonathan Alexis Kofi Torku, and Madam Florence Ofori.
They have each been admitted into the Order of St. Gregory the Great one of the highest honors bestowed by the Pope on laypersons and clergy who have demonstrated outstanding service to the Church and society.
Bishop Fianu expressed profound appreciation to the Holy Father for this singular honor, describing it as a great blessing and recognition not only for the individual recipients but for the entire Diocese of Ho.
“We thank the Holy Father for this honor that he has done to our diocese and to our four brothers and sisters.
Bishop Fianu further indicated that the Apostolic Nuncio received the information from the Vatican and in consultation a suitable date will soon be fixed for the formal investiture ceremony.The Bishop thanked God for this special grace bestowed upon the Diocese, emphasizing that the recognition is a testament to the faithful service and commitment of the awardees to the mission of the Church.
