The St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Chaplaincy at the University of Ghana, Legon, is hosting the 2026 National Conference of the Inter-Tertiary Institutions Catholic Charismatic Renewal (ITI-CCR), bringing together Catholic students from tertiary institutions across Ghana for three days of prayer, worship and spiritual renewal.
The conference, which runs from 6 to 8 March 2026 under the theme “New Life in Christ,” forms part of a long-standing tradition within the Catholic Charismatic Renewal movement in Ghana. For the past 34 years, the annual gathering has served as a national platform for Catholic students in universities and colleges to deepen their faith and strengthen fellowship.
The ITI-CCR is a vibrant movement of Catholic students drawn from tertiary institutions across the country. Its annual national conference rotates among four established zones comprising the Southern, Ashanti, Northern and Central zones to ensure broad national participation and representation among Catholic students.
This year’s edition at the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church at Legon is expected to attract participants from institutions across all four zones, reinforcing the conference’s reputation as one of the largest gatherings of Catholic tertiary students in Ghana.
The three-day programme features a range of spiritually focused activities designed to foster renewal and strengthen the faith of young Catholics. Central to the conference are Eucharistic celebrations, extended sessions of praise and worship, and moments of prayer and intercession.
Participants will also take part in a series of teachings centred on the conference theme. Among the key sessions scheduled are “New Life in Christ”, which explores the transformation of believers through faith, and “Manifesting Zoe,” a reflection on living out the fullness of divine life. Other teaching sessions will address topics including “Planting for Growth” and spiritual renewal among young Christians.
In addition to the teachings, the programme includes moments of reflective prayer, spiritual ministry and themed worship sessions aimed at encouraging participants to deepen their relationship with God and renew their commitment to Christian living.
The conference will also feature presentations and creative expressions of faith, including spoken word and dramatized reflections, designed to communicate spiritual messages in engaging ways for young participants.
Beyond its spiritual dimension, the conference promotes unity among Catholic students nationwide and encourages young people to embrace values of responsible leadership and moral integrity.
