President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference, (GCBC) Most Rev. Matthew Gyamfi has extended a warm welcome to the newly appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, His Excellency Julien Kaboré.
In his keynote address at the opening ceremony of the 2024 GCBC Plenary Assembly in the Catholic Diocese of Obuasi, Bishop Gyamfi expressed heartfelt gratitude for the Nuncio’s presence, describing it as “a source of encouragement and hope.”
He underscored the critical role the Apostolic Nuncio would play in strengthening the relationship between the Holy See and Ghana, calling it a “vital mission” for both the Church and the West African Country.
“We look forward to your guidance and collaboration as we work together to promote the Gospel of Christ, Our Lord, and serve our communities with love and compassion,” Bishop Gyamfi said.
The bishops also expressed their eagerness to engage with the Nuncio in addressing the spiritual and social challenges facing the people of Ghana, emphasizing the Church’s commitment to social justice, peace, and unity in the nation.
The GCBC President also prayed that the Nuncio’s time in Ghana would be filled with “blessings, fruitful interactions, and meaningful experiences.” He assured Archbishop Kaboré of the full support and prayers of the Conference as he embarks on his mission to Ghana.
The 2024 Plenary Assembly, which began on Monday, November 11, and will run through November 15, is centered around the theme, “Jubilee Year: A Time to Proclaim Christ, Hope for the Church and Ghana.
