The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Ho, Most Rev. Emmanuel Kofi Fianu, SVD, has ordained two candidates into the ministerial priesthood at the St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Ho Kpevele on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
The ordination rites marked a profound moment of divine calling and commitment to service in the vineyard of the Lord drew clergy, religious, lay faithful, and families of the ordinands from across the Diocese.”
In his homily, Bishop of Ho and Vice President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference, Most Rev. Emmanuel Kofi Fianu, SVD admonished the newly ordained priests to serve the people of God with unwavering faith, deep compassion, and true humility.
“Let them revere the Spirit of the Lord and strive daily to live what they preach, becoming vessels of grace and peace to all.”
He emphasized the critical role of integrity in ministry, encouraging the new priests to become living witnesses of the Gospel, allowing the Holy Spirit to guide their words, actions, and pastoral engagements.
He also called on the lay faithful to support the spiritual journey of the newly ordained through constant prayer and wise counsel, stressing the collective responsibility of the Church to nurture its clergy.
“Together, let us nurture them in love as they labour in the vineyard of the Lord.”
The newly ordained priests are Rev. Fr. Akpatsou David Agbegnigan, from St. Joseph Parish, Liati, and Rev. Fr. Samuel Perry Abotsi, CSsR, a member of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (Redemptorists), from St. Cecilia Parish, Ho Dome.
