Registration opens for first-ever SIGNIS World Congress in Africa

Registration is now open for the SIGNIS World Congress 2026, set to take place in Kigali, Rwanda, from 3 to 8 August. This historic gathering marks the first time the global assembly of Catholic communicators will be held on African soil.

Themed Digital Communication for Cultural Harmony and Environmental Wellbeing, the congress will bring together SIGNIS members from all regions, as well as journalists, filmmakers, digital communicators, researchers, academics, ecclesiastical authorities, and media specialists. The event will focus on the role of communication in promoting social cohesion, ethical media practices, intercultural dialogue, and environmental awareness, while also exploring ways to train and support the next generation of Catholic communicators.

Rwanda’s selection as host reflects its journey of reconciliation and resurgence, providing a symbolic backdrop for discussions on how digital communication can foster peace, equity, and community development.

SIGNIS, the World Catholic Association for Communication, has held its congresses in locations around the world since its first event in Rome in 2001. Past gatherings include Chiang Mai (2009), Rome (2014), Quebec (2017), and Seoul (2022), each offering a platform for dialogue on contemporary challenges in Catholic media.
