Prefect of the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, Sr. Simona Brambilla, is expected to headline a major religious conference in Ghana next month.

The Italian nun, appointed by Pope Francis in January 2025 as the first woman in the history of the Catholic Church to head a Vatican dicastery, will serve as guest speaker at the joint conference of the Regional Conference of Major Superiors of West Africa (RECOMSWA) and the Africa Religious Union, Ghana (ARUG). The event will take place from 12–15 March 2026 in the Ashanti Region under the theme, “Consecrated Life for Transformation.”

Sr. Brambilla previously served as Secretary of the same dicastery and has held several significant roles within the Church, including membership of the Ordinary Council of the General Secretariat of the Synod. A former Superior General of the Consolata Missionaries, she spent years in missionary service in Mozambique and holds a doctorate in psychology.

Her address in Ghana is expected to focus on renewal and the future of consecrated life, reflecting her long-standing emphasis on synodality, collaboration and deeper listening within the Church.

The conference aims to provide a platform for reflection on the role of consecrated life in transforming societies and strengthening the Church’s mission.

Participants are expected to deliberate on the challenges and opportunities facing consecrated life, while deepening cooperation and shared mission across borders.

God's temple in heaven was opened, and... the ark of his covenant could be seen in the temple. There were flashes of lightning, rumblings, and peals of thunder, an earthquake, and a violent hailstorm.
A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.
She was with child and wailed aloud in pain as she labored to give birth.

Mary remained with her about three months and then returned to her home.
