The Ho Diocesan Youth Council has made a donation to support Victoria Atsoribo, a 9-year-old girl who suffered severe burns in a fire accident while cooking. The young girl, currently undergoing urgent plastic surgery at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, received this lifeline following a passionate appeal made by the Director of Social Communications of the Diocese, Rev. Fr. Samuel Edem Eco Kornu, and the Parish Pastoral Council Chairperson, Anthony Godsway Tsra.

The donation, an amount of three thousand cedis, was presented during a brief ceremony at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Hohoe on Sunday, May 4, 2025. Leading the presentation on behalf of the Council was the Diocesan Youth Chairperson, Orlando Daniel. He was accompanied by key youth leaders including Georgina Badomta, Hohoe Deanery Youth Assistant Secretary; Lillian Agbosu, Hohoe Deanery Youth Organiser; and Gloria Soglo, a former Youth Leader of St. Augustine Parish.

The initiative was spearheaded by the Diocesan Youth Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Edbert Doh, who praised the commitment of the youth to Christian values and community service. “This is what it means to live out our faith to respond with love when others are in need”

Rev. Fr. Pascal Afesi, Parish Priest of St. Augustine Catholic Church, expressed his deep appreciation to the Youth Council for their generosity. He encouraged more youth across the Diocese to actively engage in charitable endeavors and support the growth of youth groups within their parishes.

Frank Charles Atsoribo, father of the young Victoria, was visibly moved by the support and thanked the Youth Council for their timely intervention during what he described as a painful and uncertain time for his family.

Victoria was first admitted to the Children’s Ward at the Kpando Margaret Marquart Catholic Hospital on December 5, 2024, after sustaining serious burns. Her condition later required specialized treatment, prompting her transfer to Korle Bu for surgery.

This noble gesture by the Ho Diocesan Youth Council underscores the importance of youth-led initiatives in addressing real-life challenges and reinforces the Christian values of compassion, generosity, and community support.
