The Catholic Diocese of Sekondi-Takoradi has begun a diocesan-wide training workshop aimed at strengthening digital evangelization and improving the management of Church social media platforms.
The initiative, organized by the Diocesan Department of Social Communications (DEPSOCOM), is part of efforts by the Catholic Diocese of Sekondi-Takoradi to enhance official Church communication channels and promote ethical, professional online engagement across parishes and societies.
The first session was held at the St. Kizito Pastoral and Catechetical Center and brought together Parish and Society Social Media Administrators from the Takoradi, Sekondi, Apowa and Shama Deaneries, as well as representatives of diocesan movements and societies.
Participants were trained in ethical social media use in the Church, principles of digital evangelization and effective administration of Church media platforms. The session also included a review of the Diocesan Social Media Policy and the registration of parish and society platforms under the Diocesan Department of Social Communications (DEPSOCOM (Diocesan Department of Social Communications)).
Resource persons included Mr. Nic Tawiah, Mr. Francis Offor and Mr. Robert Mawuenyegah, former acting director of DEPSOCOM Accra, who provided practical and pastoral guidance on Catholic communication in the digital age.
A second session is scheduled for May 16, 2026, at Aiyinase Parish for participants from the Axim and Half-Assini Deaneries. It will begin at 9 a.m.
