Accra, Selikem Norfegali –  The Vatican has assigned Rev. Fr. Cristian Gabriel Jurado Cañadas to the Apostolic Nunciature in Accra, Ghana, where he will serve as Second Secretary.

His appointment brings to the mission a blend of pastoral and academic experience as well as diplomatic training within the service of the Holy See.

Fr. Jurado Cañadas, born on June 14, 1985, in General Alvear, Mendoza, Argentina, was ordained a Catholic priest on November 24, 2012, after completing his formation at the Diocesan Major Seminary “Santa Maria Madre de Dios” in San Rafael, Mendoza. He earned a degree in Philosophy from the Catholic University of Cuyo in 2009 and later obtained a doctoral degree in Canon Law from the Pontifical Lateran University in 2022.

In addition to his priestly and academic work, he undertook specialized training at the Studium of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints at the Pontifical Urban University in 2021. Fluent in Spanish, Italian, and English, Fr. Jurado Cañadas joined the diplomatic service of the Holy See in July 2022.

He first served as Second Secretary at the Apostolic Nunciature in Pakistan from 2022 until 2025. His posting to Ghana marks the next step in his diplomatic mission, where he will support the Apostolic Nuncio in Ghana, His Excellency Julian Kabore in strengthening relations between the Vatican, the Catholic Church in Ghana, and the State.
