The Accra Archdiocesan Catholic Youth Council (AADCYC) has elected new leaders to spearhead efforts aimed at deepening faith, strengthening youth engagement, and amplifying the voice of young Catholics within the Church.
The newly elected executives are Augustine Kwame Dagbey, Chairman; Michael Marley Mensah, Vice-Chairman; Sharon Nana-Efua Assan, Secretary; and Clement Nertey Boakye, Financial Secretary.
As part of the Catholic Youth Organisation of Ghana and in alignment with the worldwide Catholic Youth Movement, AADCYC serves as a unifying platform for young people across parishes and deaneries in the Archdiocese of Accra. It promotes leadership development, encourages spiritual growth and cultivates social responsibility through the values of faith and service.
Over the years, the Council has championed several faith-based initiatives, including leadership development programmes, retreats, social outreach projects, and inter-parish youth conventions. These initiatives not only strengthen fellowship among young Catholics in Ghana but also reflect the Church’s universal call for young people to be active participants in evangelisation and social transformation.

As Chairman, Mr. Augustine Kwame Dagbey will lead efforts to inspire greater collaboration among Catholic youth groups and expand opportunities for mentorship, skill-building, and faith formation. He has pledged to work closely with partners locally and internationally to equip young people to live their faith meaningfully in today’s fast-changing world.
Supporting him, Mr. Michael Marley Mensah, Vice-Chairman, will focus on programme coordination and capacity building, while Miss Sharon Nana-Efua Assan, Secretary, will strengthen communication across parish and deanery structures. Mr. Clement Nertey Boakye, Financial Secretary, will ensure prudent financial management and accountability in support of the Council’s mission.

The new leadership has expressed commitment to positioning the Accra Archdiocesan Catholic Youth Council as a model of dynamic and faith-driven youth leadership in Africa, one that reflects the energy, innovation, and global solidarity championed by the Church’s ongoing engagement with young people through platforms such as World Youth Day.
