The Catholic Archdiocese of Accra has begun the new year with key pastoral and administrative changes, as Metropolitan Archbishop Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie C.S.Sp assigns priests to strategic roles within the local Church.

The appointments, announced in a letter dated January 2 2026 and addressed to all priests of the Archdiocese, are to run for a five year term and are aimed at deepening service to the people of God through both governance and specialised pastoral care.

At the heart of the new assignments is the appointment of Rev. Fr. John Patrick Tindana as Chancellor and Archivist of the Archdiocese of Accra. In this capacity, Fr. Tindana will be responsible for the custody and administration of official ecclesiastical records and archives, a role critical to the orderly functioning, legal integrity and historical memory of the Archdiocese.

The Archbishop has also entrusted Rev. Fr. David Amissah Andoh with the ministry of chaplaincy at the Battor Catholic Hospital. His new role places him within the Church’s healing apostolate, where he will accompany patients, families and health professionals through prayer, pastoral presence and the celebration of the sacraments.
