The Jubilee Year of Hope, declared by Pope Francis, served as the spiritual foundation for the theme of the 2025 COSRA Biannual Mini Congress: “Growing Together in Hope, Ensuring COSRA Relevance.” During the event, held at Archbishop Andoh Catechetical Centre in Kordiabe on 28th June 2025, Most Rev. John Kobina Louis, Auxiliary Bishop of Accra, offered a rich reflection on what it means for COSRA members to be “Pilgrims of Hope.”

“The Jubilee is a year of liberation, restoration, and new beginnings. These characteristics of a jubilee inspire hope,” he said.

Rooting his message in Leviticus 25, Bishop Louis reminded the faithful that jubilee is not only about returning to origins but also about God’s enduring faithfulness, justice, and renewal. He linked this biblical tradition to Pope Francis’ theme “Pilgrims of Hope,” inviting COSRA members to embrace their lives as ongoing spiritual journeys.

“As pilgrims of hope, we are called to journey, reflecting on God’s enduring presence throughout our personal lives,” he stated.

Referencing biblical examples such as Abraham and the Israelites’ journey through the wilderness, Bishop Louis called on COSRA members to see hope not as a passive waiting, but as a transformative and active trust in God’s promises.

“Our hope is not in worldly things but in God’s eternal promises,” he affirmed.

The Bishop urged participants to look to Jesus Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary as models of hope. Quoting from St. Paul’s letter to the Romans, he reminded the gathering:

“Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer” (Romans 12:12).

He also pointed to the post-resurrection story of the Emmaus disciples as an example of how Christ journeys with us even in moments of confusion and despair.

“Individually and collectively as members of COSRA in the Archdiocese, we must trust more firmly in Christ who is our true Hope,” he urged.

Bishop Louis encouraged COSRA members to recommit themselves as messengers of hope, to walk with one another through life’s trials, and to be agents of change and renewal for the Church and society.

“May COSRA shine brightly as a light of hope in the Church and our communities,” he concluded, blessing all present with the assurance of Mary’s intercession and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Wednesday of the Fourth week of Easter

Acts of the Apostles 12,24-25.13,1-5a.

The word of God continued to spread and grow.
After... Barnabas and Saul completed their relief mission, they returned to Jerusalem, taking with them John, who is called Mark.
Now there were in the church at Antioch prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Symeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen who was a close friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.
While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them."
Then, completing their fasting and prayer, they laid hands on them and sent them off.
So they, sent forth by the holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia and from there sailed to Cyprus.
When they arrived in Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the Jewish synagogues. They had John also as their assistant.

Psalms 67(66),2-3.5.6.8.

May God have pity on us and bless us;
may... he let his face shine upon us.
So may your way be known upon earth;
among all nations, your salvation.

May the nations be glad and exult
because you rule the peoples in equity;
the nations on the earth you guide.

May the peoples praise you, O God;
may all the peoples praise you!
May God bless us,
and may all the ends of the earth fear him!

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 12,44-50.

Jesus cried out and said, "Whoever believes... in me believes not only in me but also in the one who sent me,
and whoever sees me sees the one who sent me.
I came into the world as light, so that everyone who believes in me might not remain in darkness.
And if anyone hears my words and does not observe them, I do not condemn him, for I did not come to condemn the world but to save the world.
Whoever rejects me and does not accept my words has something to judge him: the word that I spoke, it will condemn him on the last day,
because I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and speak.
And I know that his commandment is eternal life. So what I say, I say as the Father told me."
