GHANCYC opens 49th Annual Meeting in Tamale, Youth urged to proclaim christ as Hope for Ghana

The Ghana National Catholic Youth Council (GHANCYC) is set to rally thousands of young Catholic leaders, clergy, and dignitaries in Tamale from September 4–7, 2025, for its 49th Annual General Council Meeting, a landmark gathering themed “Jubilee Year: A Time to Proclaim Christ, Hope for the Church and Ghana.”

The four-day meeting will bring together Catholic youth leaders and delegates from all 20 Archdioceses, Dioceses, Vicariates, and National Movements/Societies across the country. Participants will deliberate on pertinent issues affecting the Catholic youth in Ghana, while strengthening their faith, sharing experiences, and mapping out future directions for youth leadership and mission in both the Church and wider society.

Activities lined up for the event include talks, prayer sessions, entertainment, and fellowship, all designed to deepen the spiritual, social, and leadership life of the Catholic youth. One of the highlights of this year’s council meeting will be the elections of new national executives to steer the affairs of GHANCYC.

The meeting is being held under the leadership of the GHANCYC Chairman, Mr. Mathias Waliba Justice, who expressed confidence that the AGCM will serve as a milestone in empowering young Catholics to live out their faith while contributing positively to the growth of the Church and the nation.

The AGCM is the highest decision-making body of GHANCYC, and this year’s session, coinciding with the Jubilee Year, is expected to inspire renewed commitment to proclaiming Christ as the ultimate hope for both the Church and Ghana.
