Now a fully professed Sister in the Congregation of the Sisters Servants of the Holy Spirit (SSpS), Sr. Vivian has been reflecting on her vocation journey—one that culminated in her Final Profession of Vows on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at St. Kizito Catholic Church, Nima.
Born in New Ningo in Ghana’s Greater Accra Region, Sr. Vivian’s journey began as a child of eight, inspired by Sr. Brigid Andoh, SSL, a St. Louis Sister ministering in her parish at the time.
“I was touched by her simplicity and dedication to work, especially working with the young children. I told her, ‘I want to be like you,’” she recalled.
After Junior High School, she began aspiring with the Sisters of St. Louis, but a simple parish announcement about an SSpS vocation retreat in Koforidua led her to explore a new path. Her decision to attend that retreat opened her heart to a new community—and a new sense of belonging.
“I did not only enjoy the retreat but the wonderful Sisters that satisfied my quest to know more about the congregation,” she said.
Still unsure, she continued discerning between both congregations. Along the way, two SSpS Sisters—Sr. Magdalene Karo and Sr. Maciana, a missionary from Paraguay—played pivotal roles in her journey. She was moved by their choice to leave their homelands and serve in Ghana.

“It really amazed me,” she said. “If they had people they could minister to in their own countries, yet chose to come here, then I also want to go to their country and minister there.”
But even with such conviction, her desire for religious life waned for a time. It was during this low moment that one Sister, a facilitator she met during an earlier retreat, reached out and invited her to visit the St. Mary’s Community. That meeting rekindled the flame.
“The little spark from her candle lit mine. That was when I felt I was losing something precious.”
In 2013, she entered the SSpS formation programme and professed her first vows in 2016. Since then, she has continued her journey with joy and purpose.
She pursued her Bachelor of Education at St. Francis College of Education in Hohoe, choosing the path of teaching to fulfil her dream of guiding young people—especially in underprivileged communities—to find hope and direction in life.
“I want to help them understand and value life by guiding them to make the right decisions,” she explained.
Beyond the classroom, Sr. Vivian is known for her vibrant personality, her passion for reading, and her love for cooking—often experimenting with recipes that bring people together.
Her life is anchored by the values of Respect, Honesty, and Relationship-building, and inspired by her favourite Scripture: “See, I have carved you in the palm of my hand” (Isaiah 49:16).
