At the priestly ordination of Rev. Edmund Elorm Ackuaku and Rev. Jude Tachie at St. Francis of Assisi Parish Church, Ho Kpevele, on 19th September, 2026, the Ho Catholic Choirs Association (HOCCA) chose a post-communion song that captured the moment: “Adom ne Ahumɔbrɔ” by Newlove Kojo Annan.
The song is a testimony of God’s grace and mercy along life’s journey. It reminds the faithful that God never promised the road would be easy, but that His grace has carried His people every step of the way. For a congregation gathered to witness two men rise to the altar as priests, no words could have been more fitting.
Seminary formation is demanding. Years of study, discipline, prayer and discernment come with trials, stress and temptations. Many begin the journey, but not all reach the altar of ordination. For the two newly ordained, the road also had its steep and difficult stretches. Yet by God’s grace they persevered, and on this day they received the gift of priesthood through the laying on of hands of the ordaining prelate, Most Rev. Emmanuel Kofi Fianu, SVD.
Under the direction of Rev. Fr. Dennis Asare, the choir lifted the song, and it became more than music. It was a thanksgiving for the two priests, and a reminder that every vocation is sustained by grace, not by human strength alone.
The congregation, which included family, friends, clergy, religious and parishioners, joined in prayerful reflection. Many observers noted how well the choice of song matched the occasion and the personal stories of the newly ordained.
HOCCA’s ministry once again showed that sacred music is not mere decoration at the liturgy. It proclaims, consoles and deepens the faith of God’s people.
We congratulate Rev Fr. Edmund Ackuaku and Rev Fr. Jude Tachie and pray that the grace and mercy that brought them thus far will sustain them in their priestly ministry.
