The Accra Archdiocese witnessed the ordination of two new auxiliary bishops on Wednesday, April 19, 2023.
Most Rev. Anthony Narh Asare and Most Rev. John Kobina Louis were ordained at the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Accra, with the Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, Most Reverend Henryk Mieczyslaw Jagodzinski, and Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, CSSp, Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, serving as the Principal Consecrators.
The event was attended by members of the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference, who served as con-celebrating prelates, as well as priests, religious, and lay faithful of the Accra Archdiocese. The families and well-wishers of the newly ordained were also present in large numbers.
The appointment of the two auxiliary bishops was announced in February 2023 by the Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, Most Rev. Henryk Mieczyslaw Jagodzinski, at the Holy Spirit Cathedral, Accra.
Pope Francis made the appointment, and it was greeted with excitement and enthusiasm by the Catholic community in Accra.
With the ordination of Most Rev. Anthony Narh Asare and Most Rev. John Kobina Louis, the Archdiocese of Accra now has two new bishops to help with the spiritual guidance and growth of its members.
The two, will assist Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, CSSp. in the general administration of the Archdiocese.
