The Greater Accra Region of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall has made a financial commitment to the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra’s flagship healthcare initiative, presenting a cheque of GH¢320,000 in support of the Legacy of Hope Children’s Hospital project.
The donation, made at the Archbishop’s Office at the Holy Spirit Cathedral, Adabraka, is aimed at supporting the adoption of two wards within the hospital, a key component of the Archdiocese’s vision to expand access to specialised child healthcare.
The presentation was led by the leadership of the Greater Accra Regional Joint Advisory Board (GARJAB), headed by Chairman W/Bro. John Enningful and Vice Chairperson RL Sis. Philomena Sampson.
Receiving the delegation, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, CSSp, expressed deep appreciation for the gesture, describing it as a testament to the Marshallans’ enduring commitment to the Church’s mission of service and compassion.
Representatives of GARJAB explained that the contribution was in direct response to the Archdiocese’s call on Catholic groups and benefactors to adopt wards within the hospital facility.
The delegation also included Sir Kt. J.K. Otoo, Substantive Past Regional Grand Knight of the erstwhile Greater Accra Region, as well as MRL Sisters Rose Anastasia Erskine and Joana Essel, both Substantive Past Regional Noble Ladies. They reaffirmed the group’s readiness to continue supporting the Archdiocese even beyond the completion and commissioning of the hospital.
Archbishop Kwofie welcomed the partnership and stressed the importance of collaboration between Catholic societies and Church leadership in advancing social impact initiatives.
He noted that the Legacy of Hope Children’s Hospital stands as a critical intervention in promoting child health and wellbeing, adding that, all things being equal, the facility is expected to begin general outpatient services by October 2026.
